This summary helps you find your way. The full policy below is what applies.
01What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Your browser sends them back to the site with each request, so the site can tell, for example, that you are signed in. Some last only a short time. Others stay until a set date, or until you delete them.
This policy covers lingium.com and the Lingium web app. It lists the cookies Lingium sets, the settings we save in your browser, and the cookies other services set when you use them. How we handle your personal data in general is explained in our privacy policy.
02The cookies we set
Lingium sets three cookies, and only to run the site: never to track you or to show you ads. Their contents are encrypted. Without the first two, you cannot sign in and your account is not protected.
Cookies Lingium sets
3 cookies
No language cookie. The language you pick for the site is kept in your session, and in your account when you are signed in.
03Settings saved on your device
Some features save small settings in your browser’s local storage instead of in a cookie. Your browser does not send them to Lingium with your requests. They stay until you clear this site’s data in your browser.
Accessibility settings
The options you choose in the accessibility menu, such as text size, contrast or a readable font. If you are signed in, they are also saved to your account, so they follow you to other devices.
Messages you have seen
Whether today’s daily goal celebration and this week’s recap have already been shown, so you do not see them twice. A comeback reminder you close stays hidden until you close the tab.
Chapter journal
The note you write in the journal step at the end of a chapter. It is kept in this browser only.
04Cookies from other services
A few features are provided by other companies. They set their own cookies, under their own policies, and only when you use the feature. Lingium cannot read these cookies.
You sign in on Google’s own page, accounts.google.com, where Google uses its cookies to sign you in and keep your account safe.
How Google uses cookiesThe card form on the payment page for a paid plan comes from Stripe. Stripe uses cookies there to keep the payment secure and to detect fraud.
Stripe’s cookie policyThe video call with your instructor runs in a window from Daily (daily.co), the service that carries the call. Daily may use cookies there to run the call.
Daily’s privacy policy05Analytics and advertising
We do not use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, the Facebook pixel or any other tracking tool on Lingium.

Our own server keeps simple visit statistics, such as which pages are opened, the browser type and the country a visit comes from. It uses the session cookie above for this and sets no extra cookie.
If this changes, we will update this policy first and add a cookie banner that asks for your consent. No analytics or advertising cookie will be set before you agree.
06How to control cookies
Every browser lets you see, delete and block cookies, for all sites or for one site at a time. The same settings clear the local storage described in section 03. Your browser’s help pages show you how:
Good to know
- Deleting cookies signs you out. You can sign in again at any time.
- Blocking all cookies stops Lingium from working. Without the session and security cookies, you cannot sign in. To block other sites’ cookies but keep Lingium working, allow cookies for lingium.com.
- Logging out removes the cookie that keeps you signed in. The session cookie ends by itself 2 hours after your last visit.
07Changes to this policy
When the cookies we use change, we update this page and the date at the top. Before we add any cookie that needs your consent, we will ask for it with a cookie banner.
